Job Description
Duty 1. Shop Drawings:
- Gather, collect, and review all details, proposals, and documents related to new projects provided by the technical office department in order to have full awareness of all new products’ specifications & requirements.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings and specify the list of materials required in terms of quantities & qualities.
- Select & choose suitable materials for each product (wood, metal, accessories, paint, textiles, fabrics, etc).
- Produce cutting lists needed for furniture and woodwork production.
- Ensure high-quality and creative functional production solutions to make sure that there are proper conversions of the products’ technical designs into processes and procedures.
- Work closely with other related technical / non-technical departments (production, warehouse, design, procurement, sales, finance, operations, etc).
Duty 2. Cost Estimation, Analysis & Control:
- Monitor and analyze the collected cost information, including cost of raw materials used, operation costs, production costs, cost of wasted materials, direct & indirect costs, to support forecasting the new products’ selling prices.
- Implement and utilize cost methodologies and tools together with appropriate software models and programs to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate costing data.
- Convert all the collected data into cost estimates for new and current products.
- Establish and determine cost estimate targets during the design processes, development processes, and production processes.
- Establish the selling prices by multiplying the estimated costs by profit factors as per each project’s specifications.
- Assess the cost effectiveness of products by comparing actual costs versus the estimated ones to ensure costs are controlled and are as per the forecasted budgets.
- Identify and develop strategies and techniques to improve cost–efficiency while maintaining the desired quality.
- Recommend opportunities for cost savings and cost reduction measures.
- Identify potential risks and issues that could impact products’ costs.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and cost control methodologies.
Duty 3. Coordination & Alignment:
- Give cost impact advice and support management decisions by providing accurate & detailed cost information and data.
- Communicate with the projects/sales department to know all specifications and requirements for each project.
- Work with the production department to ensure cost estimates are accurate and to resolve any costing issues that might arise.
- Communicate with the procurement department to get the price list of raw materials and accessories purchased to be used in producing new items.
- Communicate with the finance department to know all the financial details about products.
Duty 4. Documentations & Reporting:
- Prepare monthly costing reports and selling prices’ forecasts, and report any variance whether under or over the approved budgets.
- Maintain accurate records and archive all necessary costing documents.

Other Requirements:
- BS degree in Architecture Engineering, Interior Design, or Applied Arts.
- 4-7 years of experience working as a Shop Drawings & Costing Engineer is a must
- Experience in the Manufacturing of Office Furniture is a must.
- Good user for MS Office (Excellent Excel User)
- Auto CAD is a must. SketchUp, Cut List, MaxCut &Solid knowledge is a plus.
